A very tasty alternative to meat burgers
Out of ethic reasons I most of the time eat vegan.
So this time I want to introduce a delicious Organic Veggie Burger recipe. It’s easy to alter or replace some ingredients:
At will add some mustard, barbeque-sauce, mayo, ketchup (all organic), some water, 1-2 eggs
Heat a skillet, pour in some olive oil and roast diced and sliced onions (separated) for 5 minutes and spice them with cayenne pepper (careful, it’s very spicy) and smoked paprika. Set aside.
Put the cooked beans in a glass or stainless steel bowl and mash them with a fork or a blender. Add the cooked rice, onions, parsley, almonds or walnuts (grained), breadcrumbs. Spice with smoked paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper, cumin powder and sea salt. Mix all together. If substance is too dry, add some mustard. If too wet, add more breadcrumbs. To make sure dough sticks together, just add a little bit of water or 1-2 eggs. Set this dough aside for about 10 minutes to get the right consistency.
Meanwhile heat the skillet (medium heat). Pour in some olive oil. Use a wooden spoon and divide the dough into 4-6 (1/2 inch thick) patties. Wet your hands a little bit and form the first one. Flatten the patty. Set them in the skillet. Flip them very gently after 5 minutes. At the end they should look nicely browned.
Toast the whole wheat buns till light brown or crispy. Remove them and coat the bottom with ketchup or mayo. Next comes the patty. Continue with some of the roasted sliced onions. Add some mayo, ketchup or mustard. Then comes 1 slice of tomato and 1 lettuce leaf. Of course you can change the sequence.
It takes some time to create your own perfect Veggie Burger. Be creative and just keep trying. After all – it’s fun!
