Getting sick from chemical-infused furniture
Furniture can make us sick, especially people with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) know what I am talking about. Flame Retardants, Formaldehyde, Polyurethane, toxic colors, etc. are a real burden for many of us. I think it is especially dangerous for Babies and small kids being in a toxic environment.
I would like to add a short list of the most common chemicals in sofas:
Flame retardants like Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs)
Perfluorinated Compounds (PFCs)
Ammonia and Chlorine
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Too many chemicals in my opinion. Getting rid of toxic furniture is a step-by-step approach because replacing everything in the house would cost a lot of money. So maybe we start with one piece after another.
I did some research and found companies selling toxic free sofas. Of course, they cannot provide every color you would like but working on our health is much more important. So I will add a couple of links. If you are interested, just check them out. Maybe you find a really nice, healthy sofa you like.
Opinions are my own
